International Airport Mariano Escobedo
The main
Airport of the state and of the north of Mexico, is wide and functional,
and it receives air lines from the main destinations of Mexico and United
States. It is located in Apodaca, on the northeast from the metropolitan
zone of Monterrey.

Very
close from the Macroplaza, this traditional zone illustrates through its
architecture, the life style of the founding families of Monterrey. The
old homes, some of which date back to the 17th century, are located on
stone-paved streets and lit by streetlamps. The best time to come here
is at night and on weekends, since there are several bars with all kinds
of live and disco music. You can walk down the streets and go into as
many establishments as you want.

Bio-Parque Estrella (Zoológico)
This park
offers one of the few opportunities to interact with dozens of species
of animals brought from all over the world and who live in their natural
habitat. Additional attractions that exist in the park bring together
entertainment and the opportunity of entering into contact with nature,
including a zafari ride, hanging bridges walk and kids garden. It is located
in Montemorelos,
Nuevo Leon.

Calle Morelos (Shopping Street)
This
traditional street in the downtown area next to the Macloplaza. Here you
can shop walking and will find an endless number of establishments, including
restaurants cafeterias, and stores where you can find handicrafts, typical
sweets, and all kinds of wares that will satisfy everybody's tastes and
needs.

Cañon de la Huasteca (Canyon)
Here
you will find imposing vertical formations that look like carefully placed
knives and offer the tourist something really worth looking at. This natural
marvel enjoys international fame among mountain climbers. There are two
ecological parks that have tourist facilities.

Catedral de Monterrey (Cathedral)
This
church brings together different arquitectural styles from the 17th to
the 19th century, mainly due to the fact that it was built over a long
period of time. Of particular interest are the facade and the pictorial
works of the Mexican artist Angel Zarraga, which are found around the
altar.

Centro Cultural Alfa (Tech Museum and IMAX Theater)
Here
an outstanding building is the spectacular planetarium, which has been
equipped with an exclusive system of hemispheric projections (IMAX). It
is the fourth of its kind on a world class scale and was the first in
Latin America. It also offers art, astronomy and recreational physics
exhibitions that in a very interactive way amuses to kids and adults.

Cerveceria Cuauhtemoc (Brewery)
Beautiful
place where you can walk by its gardens to talk and to enjoy a cold beer
on a hot day. A glass of light or dark beer is on the house for those
of drinking age. Next to its gardens there is a Fame Hall Base Ball Museum
and an art museum.

Cintermex (Convention Center)
The most important Convention
Center of the state, has an area of 65,000 m², where 17 diferent industrial
and comerce sectors are joined. It is located into the "Parque Fundidora".

Chipinque (woods)
This
is the perfect place for outdoor activities. Even though you can do the
whole park by car, or if you're in good physical shape, we recommend that
you walk along the paths or do it by bike so you can stop anywhere you
please and enjoy the attractive natural scenery, the fauna and the panoramic
views of the city. As part of the Sierra Madre Oriental Mountain Chain,
the altitude of the mountains ranges from 600 mts. The park's services
include a Visitor's Center, souvenir shop, fast food and beverage stands,
a paramedical station, children's play center, rest areas and places to
eat.

Cola de Caballo (Horsetail Fall)
This
abundant waterfall belongs to the Cumbres National Park in Monterrey.
You can take a good stone-paved path for about 500 meters. It has exhuberant
vegetation along the sides and can be covered on foot, on horseback or
by cart. The lovely cascade is 25 mts. high and has lookouts at different
levels so you can observe and enjoy the natural scenery from there. During
the trip you will find rest areas, tables and handicrafts for sale, among
other services.

Faro del Comercio (Trade
Lighthouse)
As
you walk through the middle of the Macroplaza you will be able to observe
the Trade Lighthouse, which is an extremely high orange structure. Commemorating
the first century of the Chamber of Commerce is a work by the well-known
architect Luis Barragan. It is the tallest monument in the country and
from the top, some 70 meters in the air, at night a laser beam illuminates
the main points of the city.

Galerias Monterrey (Shopping Mall)
One of
the most important shopping malls of the city. It has department stores
of any kind of merchandaise like clothes, souvenirs, as well as variety
food plaza. It is located at Gonzalitos and Insurgentes Ave.

Grutas de Garcia (Caves)
A
fascinating tour that offers fabulous views and an intriguing underground
walk. Marine fossils found inside the caves take your imagination to an
underwater world of millions of years ago.

Los Cavazos (Mexican food ....and handcafts walk)
On the
way out from the city in the Los Cavazos area, situated along the National
Highway, there are various restaurants that offer delicious typical dishes,
among which we might mention the following: kid prepared in different
styles, grilled meat, pork and seafood. These restaurants offer buffets,
so you can try everything. There are also cheap
handicraft shops, regional sweets, rustic
furniture, and a huge variety of articles from which to choose.

Macroplaza y Rio Santa Lucia (Main Square and River Walk)
Both
the locals, as well as visitors frequently go to the Macroplaza or Gran
Plaza. This huge urban work spreads over some 40 hectares and is considered
to be one of the largest in the world. Colonial buildings blend with modern
constructions, among gardens, fountains, sculptures and broad esplanades.
The "Paseo de Santa Lucia" is included on this tour and includes
an attractive visit to the spring "Ojos de Santa Lucia" , the Museum of
Mexican History, the 400 Year Commenorative Plaza and a trip along the
Santa Lucia River. And you also can walk by the "Barrio Antiguo"
(Old Town).

MARCO (Contemporary Art Museum)
This
building is the work of the famous architect Ricardo Legorreta and is
definitely one of the finest in Mexico. As you arrive you will be met
by La Paloma, an impressive bronze sculpture 6 meters tall, which weighs
4 tons, work of the outstanding Mexican artist Juan Soriano. Once inside,
the visit is a true experience, where you will enjoy the plastic art on
display in well-lit and ample space, everything blending into one piece
of art. At this museum there are select temporary exhibits as part of
its dynamic and innovative concept. Planned as a center to foster art,
visitors can attend conferences, concerts, and workshops or go to a speciality
shop or spend a pleasant time in the restaurant or cafeteria. It is located
beside the Macroplaza.

Museo de Historia Mexicana (Museum)
Once
you reach the upper level of the museum you will be favorably impressed
with the appealing graphic and audiovisual mountings based on high tech.
By means of this very original and successful museographic approach, the
history of pre-Hispanic Mexico is narrated, as is the history of Colonial
times, the most important facts of the 19th century, and of modern Mexico,
all in a very live and interactive way. In the central area there is an
interesting display of the biodiversity of some of Mexico's ecosystems.
Within the museum there are also areas for temporary exhibits, library
and video library, auditorium, audiovisual viewing room, rest area and
cafeteria. It is located in front of the Macroplaza.

Museo del Obispado (Bishop Museum)
Old
building date back to 1787, is strategically located on top of a hill
and offers an overview of the whole city. Other buildings also reflect
the art and ideology of our ancestors, whose presence lasted for over
four centuries. This has been used as barracks, bishop and hospital.
Nowaday is a museum.

Parque Bosque Magico (Theme Park)
It is
an amusement theme park with thrill atractions, incluiding a Crazy River
ride, a Twister, and some more that will make you scream. The park is
for all ages and it is located beside the "Parque La Pastora (Zoo)" on
Eloy Cavazos Ave.

Parque Fundidora (Smelting Park)
In addition
to being a reminder of one of the most outstanding industries in Latin
America, today it is an important meeting place for entrepreneurs and
also serves as a cultural and entertainment center. Inside the Park is
located Cintermex, Plaza Sésamo, Nuevo Leon's Cultural Cinema, and the
Cart race course.

Parque La Pastora (Zoo)
This park is divided in four
areas: Zoological, Typical Town, The Lake and The Forest. A place of great
variety of amusement for children and adults, excellent walks into its
forest area as well as its zoo, with savage animals like lions, tigers,
giraffes, elephants, buffalos, a complete collection of serpents, birds
zoo, etc. It has a snacks and restaurants zone, as well as also a small
train for the walk in all the park. It also has an outdoor theater with
infantile performances. It is located on Eloy Cavazos Ave.

Plaza Sésamo (Sesame Street Theme Park)
It is
an amusement park which evolves around the characters from the TV program
Sesame Street. Villa Sesamo has mechanical and interactive rides. The
section called Aquamundo has flumes, pools and artificial rivers. In addition
to this, the park has continuous shows and lets the visitors meet the
famous TV personalities. The main attractions are the Space Shot, where
you drop from some 60 meters in the air; the Ovni; the Mining Express,
which is a roller coaster inside a mine; Locoboganes, which are covered
and uncovered flumes to go down in tires, Flash and Superflash, which
are almost vertical flumes which go at a speed of nearly 60 km. per hour
and the Grand Prix, a go-kart ring some 300 mts. in length, all of which
present a real challenge. This amusement park also has food and beverage
service, souvenir shops, and you can rent rooms to hold your own events.
It is located at the "Parque Fundidora".
